Geoscientists play a crucial role in the energy transition and will be in as much demand as they have ever been. However, big changes can lead to a loss of certainty, self-confidence, significance, or motivation. It is of vital importance that geoscientists not only understand and see their role but are also able to utilise strong personal leadership skills to bridge the change — for themselves as individuals and for their teams.
First-line leaders are usually excellent technical people, but they often have a need and even hunger for help on how to deal with people. Their leadership skills are often based on examples they happen to have encountered, for better or worse. Howeveer, young leaders are incredibly receptive to learning in the magic early period before their leadership styles get set. Our purpose is to help leaders within any discipline to develop the awareness and skills of how to get the best out of themselves and the people they work with, in a way that creates purpose, remarkable results and fulfillment from work.
How can a team, in the midst of organisational turmoil and rapid change, create a work atmosphere where people are happy to work, create remarkable results together and experience fulfillment and motivation?
Young professionals receive technical training, but usually miss any guidance in mindset skills crucial to allow optimal development and performance. Consequently, a lot of potential is unnecessarily wasted and opportunities for development are missed. We want to prevent that. We want to guide young professionals in building personal leadership skills towards getting the best possible start in the first 5 years of their professional life — years which are often so important for their subsequent careers.
To help make the transition from academic to work life we can demonstrate how to build personal leadership skills. These will serve to: (i) successfully complete this last phase as a student; (ii) develop a clear picture of the work options and choice; and (iii) provide a painless (and even exciting) transition from study to work life, preparing for the best possible start as a young professional.
